Meet Sam the Rowing Master

by Eric on April 8, 2009

Sam is a senior at Westlake High, and he graciously accepted my offer for some out-of-the-box senior portraits. I’ve been thinking about senior portraits lately, and how I could apply my style to them. I want to shoot these like magazine images. For me, that means bringing out the lighting gear, discussing concepts, etc. I feel like it’s a much more creative approach than just walking around and taking shots, hoping to get something good.

Since Sam is into rowing, that became the theme of this shoot. I pre-planned several of the shots, and then we were open to whatever else happened while we were there. Sam was up for anything, and so we worked to push through some comfort levels to get great images!
