WPPI 2011 MasterClass Registration Is Open

Registration for WPPI 2011 opened today. If you are interested in my lighting/compositing masterclass, be sure to check out their site as registration for these separate classes usually fills up quickly. Each class is limited to 35 students and goes for $50. Registration is here.

Take a look at all the great classes, including an awesome video marketing class by my good friend Dustin Meyer.

WPPI 2011

Yes, it’s early. But I am way excited to announce that I’ll be teaching a masterclass at WPPI next February in Las Vegas! I’ll be covering shoot planning, location lighting, post production, and compositing. More details can be found on my other blog here. Hope to see you in LAS!

WPPI/Fresh Faces Finalist!

WPPI is right around the corner (I’ll be heading out next Saturday). If you would like to meet up at some point, be sure to send me a message on Facebook or contact me via this site. We might try to organize a lunch or dinner if time permits (there are a lot of activities going on this year).

On the WPPI note, I just found out that the “Baby and the Tramp” shot I took of the boys a few years ago has been selected as one of the top 20 finalists in this year’s “Fresh Faces” competition! It’s one of my most favorite shots, and I am so happy that the boys are getting a little Vegas love.

The winner will be selected by votes and receives some gear and a spread in Rangefinder. So if you have a chance, please head over here and cast your vote for image #9. According to the website, you should “vote early and vote often”. So, please feel free to vote again. And again. And again. In fact, I am pretty sure that whoever votes the most probably loves Brandon and Trevor the most, so do it for the kids.

The Best of 2009 Slideshow

2009 is a wrap! Here’s a slideshow of some of my favorite images from the year!

As always, a big thanks to all the clients, family, friends, coordinators, editors, photographers and more that have helped make ’09 truly memorable! Rock on in ’10!

This is a flash movie – if you are viewing this on Facebook, head here to see it.

Have a Christmas Card You can Be Proud Of

This year was big for Christmas card shoots. There’s almost an art form to it: create something that isn’t overly complicated, but also has refrigerator staying power. The latter is most important. You don’t want to be the family who’s card is the first to end up in the trash on December 26th. You want refrigerator staying power.

Here are some images from my ’09 cards. Be sure to check out the post after this one about our family card. If you want to get on a card update list for 2010, send me an email at doggett –at– doggettstudios.com. Next year I’ll be starting a month or two earlier. I also might be traveling to do some card shoots out of town.

BTW one of the cards below is slightly NSFW, so make sure your boss is working on those TPS reports while you look at these.

Here’s the slightly-NSFW design. If you haven’t seen National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, or barely remember it, here’s the scene we recreated.

Christmas 2009

Wow – what a great Christmas we had to finish out the year! Lisa’s parents (who live in Austin) came by for dinner on Christmas Eve, and then were over early the next morning. Christmas day started at 6:30 am, as we wanted to be awake when the boys came downstairs to see what Santa brought them. Of course, yesterday Brandon decided to sleep in a little bit, so he didn’t make it down until around 7:30.

Check out some of the intense Christmas action!

Tracking Santa via NORAD:

Nobody better touch the oven!

95% chance this is either Little Einsteins, Dora, or Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.

Here’s the B-Man putting out some food for the reindeer. Thanks Jen F. for sending this along!

Now he’s reading the Night Before Christmas. This particular book was given to Lisa when she was a kid, and it’s a tradition in our family to read it the night before.

Trevor makes his appearance!

The Zhu Zhu pets were a big hit – thanks Uncle Todd!

Here’s Grandpa Tony, hanging out on Christmas morning. Wait a minute….

I knew it! :

Here’s an iPhone pic showing our colossal tree light FAIL.

Officer Brandon is deputized.

And promptly makes his first arrest.

O’Reilly gets some mouse action.

Here’s Mommy and B-Man testing out his new wheelbarrow and equipment! He will regret getting this, I promise.

We have a tradition every year where I get some treats from the Cheesecake Factory for Christmas Eve dinner. At first, I took Queso with me. Now, I take both boys with me every year to pick it up. Here’s a little photo history:

Merry Christmas! I hope you had an awesome holiday, and I’ll be posting the Best of 2009 shortly!
